The Digital Media Track brings together young creatives and entrepreneurs, educators, and industry leaders. At these events, join discussions on the future of media and its impact on our world today. Digital Media CT Summit

Targeted towards high schoolers, college students, and teachers who are interested in film, television, and digital media, DMCT is sure to be a dynamic event. Featured speakers include leading digital content producers from Connecticut and beyond. This event includes a talent showcase and specialized breakout sessions for all students.

NBCUniversal Executive Panel

7pm-8:30pm Monday, September 23rd
NBCUniversal Stamford Media Center

For executives who deploy digital media in their communications and marketing roles. Held at the Stamford Media Center’s Studio A, this panel will feature marketing leaders from NBCUniversal’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Los Angeles studios and others. Learn how NBCUniversal and other top media organizations use digital media for their marketing campaigns. The panel will cover methods and new technologies that promote their properties. These best practices are especially useful for brand communications directors, public relations heads, and marketing executives. An audience Q&A session will wrap up the event.
 
Prior to the panel discussion, tours of Studio A, where Maury and other shows are shot, will be available from 4 PM to 6:30 PM. Tour guides can discuss how attendees can now use the NBCUniversal facilities for their own digital productions. The tours will begin in the SMC’s lobby during the free Digital Media Expo.

John joined NBC in 2009 to launch the Stamford Media Center and 3 Syndicated Talk Shows – Maury, The Steve Wilkos Show and The Jerry Spring Show.  The SMC Facility consists of 2 - HD Production Studios, Avid Interplay Post Production Operation with 30 editorial suites and 2 GFX suites.

John joined NBC in 2009 to launch the Stamford Media Center and 3 Syndicated Talk Shows – Maury, The Steve Wilkos Show and The Jerry Spring Show.  The SMC Facility consists of 2 - HD Production Studios, Avid Interplay Post Production Operation with 30 editorial suites and 2 GFX suites.

Prior to NBC John held positions at NEP Studios as VP of Engineering, WWOR-TV as Sr. Broadcast Engineer and ABC Television as Broadcast Engineer.   Over his 30+ years in the industry John has been involved with numerous studio and post-production operations and was instrumental in keeping them up to date with the latest technologies.

Sowmya Gottipati is Vice President of Emerging Technology Development, Innovation arm of NBCUniversal. Sowmya drives technology innovation and help deliver business solutions enabled by emerging technologies with particular emphasis on developing new business models for NBCUniversal. She leads pilot and incubation programs in collaboration with start-up and venture capital community, academic research groups and technology professionals from the worlds of application and content strategy, mobile development, distribution, video, and consumer-experience technologies.  She is also the Co-Chair for one of the TechWomen Chapters at NBCUniversal.

Previously, Sowmya served as a technology leader at AT&T where she managed and delivered products to the market that are currently bringing $3B+ in revenues. She has more than 19 years of hands-on experience in technology strategy and product innovation, product development, product and program management, and financial management.

Sowmya holds a MS degree in Engineering from N.C. State University and MBA from Columbia Business School. She is an aviation enthusiast and holds a private pilot license.

Paul has always been at the cutting edge of the digital movement, realizing opportunities to gain a new audience through digital media.  Faulhaber skillfully managed to leverage linear television with social media, creating digital originals and extended show content using his unique brand of storytelling.

Emmy nominated Talk show veteran Paul Faulhaber has been Executive Producer of "Maury," NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution's nationally syndicated talk show hosted by Maury Povich, since 2005.

Under Faulhaber's leadership, for the first time in the history of the program, "Maury" was the #1 daytime talk show in the summer of 2011, in viewers, ratings and all key demographics.

Paul has always been at the cutting edge of the digital movement, realizing opportunities to gain a new audience through digital media.  Faulhaber skillfully managed to leverage linear television with social media, creating digital originals and extended show content using his unique brand of storytelling.   This successful combination quickly grew Maury’s YouTube channel to over one million subscribers, it’s Facebook page to over three million followers and the show’s Instagram account now has hundreds of thousands of followers. As new social media platforms are being developed Paul and the Maury Show will be at the forefront providing compelling original content.

Faulhaber has been with "Maury" since its premiere in September 1998, when he was the show's coordinating producer. Faulhaber was then promoted to the program's senior supervising producer in 2001, and then the show's Co-Executive producer in September 2002. He also served as the Executive Producer for the NBC Universal talk show “Trisha” and the comedy clip show “Crazy Talk.”

Prior to "Maury," Faulhaber was a producer at "The Gayle King Show" during the show's run from 1997-98. Prior to that, he spent three years as a producer at "The Gordon Elliot Show" from 1994-1997. Faulhaber began his television career in 1991 at "The Montel Williams Show," where he started in the research department and then moved on to become an associate producer through the 1994 season.

Eric Hanson is a veteran in the world of syndicated daytime talk. Hanson has worked on some of the most iconic daytime talk shows including The Montel Williams Show, Bill Cunningham, Crazy Talk and Maury.

Eric Hanson is a veteran in the world of syndicated daytime talk. Hanson has worked on some of the most iconic daytime talk shows including The Montel Williams Show, Bill Cunningham, Crazy Talk and Maury. In 1998, Eric began to see a shift in the way television and its content was being consumed. Later that year he was asked to join The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the creators of the Webby Awards. Since then he has dedicated his career to world of digital media. Currently he is the Director of Digital Media for NBC’s Stamford Media Center, working on Maury, The Steve Wilkos Show, Jerry Springer and most recently launching Judge Jerry. Hanson also oversees all in-house digital pilots and originals for the Stamford Media Center.

Sara Klein is a Marketing Manager for NBCUniversal, Television Distribution, primarily focusing on digital strategy and initiatives.

Sara Klein is a Marketing Manager for NBCUniversal, Television Distribution, primarily focusing on digital strategy and initiatives. Sara is the liaison between corporate NBC Universal and it’s productions in Los Angeles, New York and the Stamford Media Center. Klein is instrumental in incorporating digital and social platforms into each pilot and production.  Most recently, Klein helped in the creation of a new Amazon Alexa voice Skill for the Maury Show.  Sara is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the NBCUniversal Page Program.

Vinnie is the VP and General Manager for NBC Universal’s Stamford Media Center and Productions, LLC, and NBCU’s First Run Distribution division which produces nationally syndicated talk shows such as Maury, Steve Wilkos, Judge Jerry and The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Vinnie is the VP and General Manager for NBC Universal’s Stamford Media Center and Productions, LLC, and NBCU’s First Run Distribution division which produces nationally syndicated talk shows such as Maury, Steve Wilkos, Judge Jerry and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Vinnie was instrumental in helping oversee the reconstruction and redesign of Stamford’s Rich Forum Theatre to a full-service TV production center. His extensive employment history also includes producing and directing news at WTVY-TV in Dothan, Alabama, managing programming and production operations at WRCB-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and running full operations for numerous television productions such as Harry, Trisha, The Montel Williams Show, The Sally Jessy Raphael Show and Blind Date and Fifth Wheel. Vinnie is active in the community and loves working and volunteering in Stamford and Fairfield County. Vinnie and his wife Donna have three grown children and are now living an empty nest lifestyle in Downtown Stamford.

Anyone with a modern phone can now instantly record a quick video and post it for the world to see in a matter of minutes, but not everyone can make it look good. That’s where we come in! If you want to learn the basics of getting started as a cellphone cinematographer or get a few editing tips to spice up those Instagram posts, family videos or small business ads, stop by our workshop. Come with your cellphones charged: iPhone users will be using iMovie and Andriod users will be using Filmora Go. If needed, please download the appropriate app ahead of time.
